Chetumal reopens rehabilitated “8 de Octubre” football field

The “8 de Octubre” football field in the Del Bosque neighborhood of Chetumal, Quintana Roo, has been reopened following extensive rehabilitation works. The project, led by Governor Mara Lezama Espinoso and Municipal President Yensunni Martínez, aimed to recover the space for local children, youth, and families.

Improvements to the sports unit included the rehabilitation of the playing field, stands and roofing, bathrooms, and the lighting system, as well as improvements to access streets. Officials noted that investing in sports infrastructure serves to promote physical activity, community coexistence, and violence prevention. The administration also highlighted the importance of supporting women's football through these improved facilities.
