Cheung Chau sexual assault case adjourned for further investigation

A 17-year-old male student from mainland China, identified as Huang Weijie, appeared at the Eastern Magistrates’ Court facing allegations of rape and indecent assault involving a minor in Cheung Chau.

The defendant, who holds a Two-way Permit to enter Hong Kong, is accused of committing these offenses at a residence on Hillside Road between August 1 and August 29, 2026. The charge of indecent assault is specifically alleged to have occurred on August 29.

The magistrate adjourned the case until November 23 to allow police to conduct further investigations, including obtaining a recorded interview with the complainant. The defendant was granted bail in the amount of HK$2,000, subject to strict conditions including a curfew, a prohibition from leaving Hong Kong, mandatory police reporting, and a requirement not to contact prosecution witnesses.
