Chevening scholarships open for 2026 applications to UK masters

The UK government’s Chevening Scholarship programme has opened its 2026 application window from 4 August to 6 October. The fully‑funded awards cover tuition, a monthly stipend, return flights and visa costs for a one‑year taught master’s at a UK university. They aim to bring future leaders from around the world to study in the UK.

Applications are being promoted to candidates in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Nigeria, among other countries. Emma Hennessey, head of the Scholarships Unit at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, said the scheme seeks “exceptional individuals … ready to collaborate with the UK to help build a more resilient, prosperous, and sustainable future.” Eligible applicants must hold an undergraduate degree equivalent to a UK 2:1, have at least 2,800 hours of work experience, demonstrate leadership potential and intend to return to their home country after study.
