Chevrolet begins production of Captiva PHEV in Brazil

Chevrolet has commenced production of the Captiva PHEV at its automotive plant in Ceará, Brazil. This marks the company’s first plug-in hybrid SUV manufactured within the country.

The vehicle features a 1.5-liter gasoline engine paired with an electric motor, producing a combined total of 204 cv and 31.6 kgfm of torque. With a 20.5 kWh battery, the SUV can travel approximately 80 kilometers on electric power alone. When both the fuel tank and battery are fully charged, the total range is expected to exceed 1,000 kilometers.

Based on the Wuling Starlight S, the SUV measures 4.74 meters in length and accommodates five passengers. Interior features include a 15.6-inch multimedia center, an 8.8-inch digital dashboard, a panoramic sunroof, and 360-degree camera monitoring. While official pricing for the Brazilian market has not yet been released, the model will face competition from brands such as BYD, Toyota, and Geely.
