Chevrolet Bolt production targets reportedly slashed to 35,000 units
Production targets for the revived Chevrolet Bolt are reportedly being significantly reduced. While initial expectations suggested a production run of approximately 150,000 units at the Fairfax plant in Kansas City, Kansas, documents from the United Auto Workers (UAW) union indicate the target may be as low as 35,000 vehicles.
This reduction represents a roughly 75% decrease from original projections. The shift may be driven by tapering demand in the affordable electric vehicle segment and increased competition. General Motors has not confirmed specific production volumes, stating only that the company continuously evaluates market dynamics and customer demand to guide operational decisions.
Sales data reflects these market challenges, with approximately 4,224 Bolt units sold in the United States through the end of August. The current production plan, according to union representatives, suggests the model's run may conclude as early as the first quarter of next year.
