Chevrolet Expands Equinox Line with 2027 SUV Release and Plans Next‑Gen EV
Willis Chevrolet of Granger announced that the 2027 Chevrolet Equinox will be available to Central Iowa shoppers. The new gasoline SUV features a 1.5‑liter turbocharged engine delivering 175 hp and 203 lb‑ft of torque, standard all‑wheel drive, up to 1,500 lb of towing capacity, an 11.3‑inch infotainment screen and a suite of safety and driver‑assistance technologies.
General Motors is also preparing a second‑generation Equinox EV slated for launch in late 2028 or early 2029. The future model will ride on GM’s forthcoming BEV‑N architecture, replacing the current BEV‑3 platform. The first‑generation Equinox EV, introduced for the 2024 model year, sold 57,945 units in 2025 but fell to 16,249 units in the first half of 2026, prompting GM to push ahead with the next version despite the dip. Chevrolet declined to comment on the report.
