Chevrolet launches 2027 Onix Activ hatch and Onix Plus sedan in Brazil

Chevrolet revived the Onix Activ hatch for the 2027 model year, positioning it as a low‑cost SUV alternative. Priced at R$ 116,190, the Activ features a 1.0‑liter turbo‑flex three‑cylinder engine delivering up to 115 hp and 16.8 kg·m of torque, paired with a six‑speed automatic transmission and a ground clearance of 20.1 cm. The model aims to compete with entry‑level SUVs such as the Volkswagen T‑Ra 170 TSI and Fiat Pulse Drive, and its return follows a seven‑year hiatus after the previous generation was discontinued in 2019.

In the same launch, Chevrolet introduced the Onix Plus sedan, the only sedan in the current Onix family. The 2027 Plus offers a 500‑liter trunk, six airbags, electronic stability control and a 1.0‑liter engine available in naturally aspirated or turbocharged forms. Chevrolet claims fuel consumption of up to 17.7 km per litre, but Inmetro’s official figures show a maximum of 17.1 km/L for the manual aspirated version, with lower values for turbocharged variants. Both vehicles share the same powertrain architecture and are targeted at Brazilian families seeking spacious, economical compact cars.
