Chevrolet launches new Sonic crossover in Brazil, opens pre‑sale in Argentina

General Motors unveiled the Chevrolet Sonic, a sub‑compact crossover positioned between the Onix and Tracker, at a regional event in São Paulo. The model will arrive in Brazil in June with a starting price of R$ 129,990 for the Premier trim and R$ 135,990 for the RS version. In Argentina, the vehicle is already available for pre‑sale, priced from AR$ 38,390,900.

The Sonic shares the 1.0‑litre turbo‑flex engine (115.5 hp) and six‑speed automatic transmission of the Tracker, delivering Inmetro‑rated fuel consumption of 12.1 km/l city and 14.8 km/l highway on gasoline, earning an A rating for energy efficiency. Competing models include the Volkswagen Tera, Fiat Pulse and Renault Kardian, with the Sonic generally matching or slightly surpassing them on highway mileage.

Features highlighted are an 8‑inch digital instrument cluster, 11‑inch MyLink touchscreen, full‑LED headlights, and an “Easy Park” assist system for parallel and perpendicular parking. Advanced driver‑assistance sensors extend automatic emergency braking coverage from 8 km/h up to 130 km/h and improve pedestrian and cyclist detection.
