Chevrolet launches Sonic compact SUV and promotes fuel‑efficient Onix Plus sedan in Brazil

Chevrolet has introduced the Sonic Premier 2027, a compact SUV built on the Onix platform and positioned between the hatchback and the larger Tracker. Priced from R$130,000 for the base version to R$136,000 for the RS trim, the Sonic offers a 392‑litre trunk, a 1.0 L turbo‑flex engine delivering 115 hp, and fuel consumption of about 13 km/l in mixed traffic and 14.8 km/l on highways. It competes with models such as the Fiat Pulse, Renault Kardian and Volkswagen Tera and includes features like a digital cockpit, wireless phone charging, ADAS safety aids and a “pillow‑top” seat design.

In parallel, Chevrolet highlights the Onix Plus 1.0 manual sedan as a low‑cost family option. The vehicle consumes 13.9 km/l in city driving and reaches 17.4 km/l on the highway, according to Inmetro data, while providing a 469‑litre trunk and a 44‑litre fuel tank that can theoretically deliver about 765 km of range. The sedan targets buyers who prefer a lower purchase price and operating cost over the higher seating position of SUVs.
