Chevrolet to launch Brazil's first flex‑hybrid, Subaru quits MHEV

Chevrolet vice‑president Fabio Rua announced that General Motors will produce the world’s first flex‑fuel hybrid engines in Brazil, with a launch of electrified models expected soon. The first vehicle is likely the Tracker SUV, which will use a 48‑V mild‑hybrid system similar to the one already seen in the Jeep Renegade, as part of GM’s goal to have most of its portfolio electrified by 2030.

Subaru has decided to discontinue its e‑BOXER mild‑hybrid (MHEV) program, opting instead for full hybrid (HEV) and fully electric models that rely on Toyota technology. The company will no longer offer MHEV models in Brazil after its partnership with CAOA ended, shifting its lineup to HEV and EV offerings such as the Forester, Impreza and the Solterra series.
