Chevrolet tops Uruguay car market in June, launches new Sonic SUV

Chevrolet confirmed its leading position in Uruguay's automobile market for June, according to ACAU data and registration figures from SUCIVE. It was the only high‑volume brand to raise its market share compared with the previous month. General Motors Uruguay manager Claudio D’Agostini said the brand’s broad portfolio – ranging from conventional combustion models to plug‑in hybrids and fully electric vehicles – meets the evolving preferences of Uruguayan consumers.

In June the company officially introduced the new Chevrolet Sonic, a compact SUV aimed at a fast‑growing segment. The launch complements Chevrolet’s ongoing electrification strategy, which now includes models such as Spark EUV, Captiva PHEV, Captiva EV, Blazer EV and Equinox EV, alongside its established lineup of Tracker, Onix, Groove, Montana, S10 and Silverado.

The brand highlighted its focus on technology, safety, connectivity (including OnStar) and a wide dealer network as key factors behind its market performance.
