Chevron Nigeria and NUJ Train Journalists in AI and Data Reporting
Chevron Nigeria Limited and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council held a training workshop for journalists in Abuja. The program, part of Chevron's 2026 Media Capacity Building Programme, focused on using artificial intelligence and data‑driven techniques to improve energy reporting.
NUJ FCT Council chair Grace Ike described AI as a game‑changing tool for gathering, verifying and delivering news, emphasizing its role in detecting misinformation and deepfakes while warning that editorial judgement must remain central. Chevron’s General Manager of Policy, Government and Public Affairs, Olusoga Oduselu, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting media capacity and responsible AI deployment. Participants were urged to prioritize data accuracy, context and credibility to better inform the public on Nigeria’s energy sector and its broader policy, investment and community impacts.
