Cheyenne Police Department K9 Tyler passes away

The Cheyenne Police Department announced the death of K9 Tyler, the agency’s first female patrol-certified police dog. Partnered with Officer Lisa Koeppel, Tyler was an award-winning canine that earned top honors at the Wyoming Police Service Dog Association annual certifications in 2019 and 2022.

During her six-year career, Tyler conducted more than 400 drug searches and was credited with the seizure of over 1,300 pounds of illegal drugs. Tyler retired from active duty in 2025. Officer Koeppel described the dog as a “ride-or-die partner” and a “trusted teammate.” The department did not disclose a cause of death.
