Chhadi Mubarak Holy Stick Reaches Pahalgam on Ashadha Purnima, Pilgrims Pray for Peace
On the occasion of Ashadha Purnima (Guru Purnima), the sacred Chhadi Mubarak was transferred from the Dushanemi Akhada in Srinagar to the hill town of Pahalgam in Jammu & Kashmir. The procession was carried out under tight security and formed part of traditional land‑worship and new‑planet worship rituals.
Mahant Deependra Giri, the custodian of the Chhadi, said that approximately 425,000 pilgrims have visited the shrine this year, with a daily average of 17,000‑18,000 devotees. With the start of the holy month of Saavan, more worshippers are expected to join. He emphasized prayers for peace and prosperity across the Union Territory and the nation.
Earlier, the annual Mata Jwala celebration in Pampor also drew inter‑faith participation, highlighting communal harmony in the region.
