Chhatarpur authorities investigate suspicious deaths of three sisters

Authorities in the Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh have launched an investigation into the suspicious deaths of three minor sisters in Pipora Khurd village. The deceased have been identified as 7-year-old Poonam, 3-year-old Manisha, and 9-month-old Chahat, all daughters of Balmukund Kushwaha.

Preliminary reports suggest the children may have consumed a meal of baingan bharta (mashed eggplant) and roti before falling ill with vomiting and diarrhea. However, investigators noted discrepancies, as the nine-month-old infant reportedly only consumed breast milk and light liquids.

The investigation was prompted after officials discovered the family had buried the children following traditional customs without notifying the police or health department. Consequently, forensic teams and medical officers have moved to exhume the bodies for post-mortem examinations and viscera analysis to determine if food poisoning or other factors were responsible.
