Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar locks land records for 450 acres

Authorities in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar have decided to lock the 'Satbara' (land) records for approximately 450 acres of land across 29 sectors to prevent the sale of unauthorized plots. This decision, made during a meeting between the Municipal Corporation and the Revenue Department, aims to halt real estate transactions on these lands until official layouts are approved.

The crackdown follows an increase in the illegal fragmentation of agricultural land for sale. While the municipal corporation has already demolished unauthorized layouts involving over 5,000 plots, officials implemented the record lock to prevent developers from resuming sales on the same sites.

The issue has also triggered political tension within the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation's standing committee. During a recent meeting, AIMIM councilor Ajhar Pathan and BJP councilors engaged in a heated debate regarding the enforcement of actions against illegal plotting and the potential loss of municipal revenue. The dispute required intervention from the chairperson to maintain order.
