Chhattisgarh announces October holidays and increased medical stipends
The Chhattisgarh government has announced several administrative updates regarding public holidays and medical student compensation.
For the month of October, the state has scheduled 10 holidays for government offices and schools. This includes official holidays for Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti on October 2 and Vijayadashami on October 20, as well as a local holiday for Mahashtami on October 19 in districts including Raipur. Additionally, seven optional holidays have been provided for employees, covering various religious and cultural observances.
In a separate development, the state government has approved an increase in stipends for postgraduate (PG) medical students in government medical colleges. Starting in October, these students will receive up to 94,000 rupees per month. The decision also extends to dental PG students, bringing their compensation on par with medical students. This move follows protests and threats of service boycotts by resident doctors citing high workloads and inflation.
