Chhattisgarh education sector faces exam rescheduling and forgery scandal
In Chhattisgarh, the state's education administration is facing two distinct challenges involving recruitment and institutional integrity. The Chhattisgarh Vyapam (CGSSB) has released updates regarding the TGT teacher recruitment for 2026, which includes 1,654 vacancies across six subjects. Following a Chhattisgarh High Court directive, the LST26 teacher exam has been rescheduled from October 25 to December 20, 2026.
Separately, the School Education Department has been hit by a significant forgery scandal. A group of individuals manufactured counterfeit transfer orders featuring forged signatures and official seals to secure lucrative postings for 19 teachers and administrative staff across 15 districts. The fraud was so effective that several employees assumed their new roles before the Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) identified the documents as fake. In response, the DPI has issued a three-day ultimatum to District Education Officers in the affected areas to explain the failure in vetting these documents.
