Chhattisgarh implements new ration card rules and weather alerts issued

The Chhattisgarh Food Department has introduced Digital and Smart PDS 2.0 to prevent the issuance of fraudulent ration cards. Under the new regulations, applicants must provide detailed information across 40 specific points, including bank account details, total assets, housing descriptions, and personal information for all family members. This measure aims to ensure that subsidized food grains reach only eligible families by facilitating more transparent online verification.

Separately, the meteorological department has issued weather alerts for Chhattisgarh, including warnings for lightning and light to moderate rainfall in several districts. While areas like Jashpur have recorded significant rainfall, a low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a cyclonic storm. This system is projected to move toward the Andhra Pradesh coast, which may cause temperatures in Chhattisgarh to rise by up to 4 degrees Celsius over the next two days.
