Chhattisgarh introduces interest‑free short‑term loan for state workers and reassigns school clerks to admin offices

In July 2026 the Chhattisgarh state government launched an interest‑free short‑term credit scheme for its employees. The programme, administered through the e‑Kosh portal’s Employee Corner, allows staff to apply online for loans against their salaries to meet medical, education or other family needs. Loans are disbursed digitally, repaid by automatic salary deductions, and avoid costly private moneylenders. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai announced the initiative, noting that it places no additional burden on the state treasury.

Separately, the state Education Department issued new directives permitting non‑teaching school staff—clerks and attendants—to be temporarily posted to district collector or commissioner offices when vacancies arise. The measure, announced by Education Department Secretary Dr. Kamalpreet Singh, is intended to address staffing shortfalls in administrative offices while ensuring that schools remain adequately staffed and their operations are not disrupted.
