Chhattisgarh Ranji Trophy home games moved due to NGT clearance issues

Chhattisgarh’s consecutive home matches in the 2026/27 Ranji Trophy have been relocated from the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur. The National Green Tribunal (NGT) denied clearance for the matches against Andhra and Hyderabad.

As a result, the Elite Group ‘B’ fixture against Andhra, scheduled to begin Monday, will now be played at the DVR Ground in Mulapadu, near Vijayawada. The fourth-round match against Hyderabad is also expected to be moved to the opponent's city.

While the tribunal previously allowed Raipur to host three women’s T20Is between India and Zimbabwe under specific groundwater recharge conditions, it has not granted permission for these Ranji Trophy games. Sources indicate the NGT is requesting approximately Rs 20 lakh per match for staging the games. The next hearing regarding this matter is set for December 9, leaving the future of other scheduled matches in the state uncertain.
