Chhattisgarh school principal removed over Asaram-linked booklets

The principal of Swami Atmanand Government English Medium School of Excellence in Balrampur, Chhattisgarh, has been removed from his position following the distribution of booklets associated with convicted rapist Asaram. The incident occurred on October 26 in Raghunathpur village, where approximately 25 to 30 middle-school students reportedly received the materials during a visit by members of an organization linked to Asaram.

Parents raised objections after students brought the booklets home, noting that some publications contained photographs and quotations of the convicted offender. Titles included Sanskar Sarita, Vrat Niyam, and Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. Allegations have also surfaced that students were instructed to read the material to prepare for a test.

District Education Officer Narendra Nirapure ordered an investigation into the matter. Following preliminary findings, principal Mahesh Prajapati was removed from his post and attached to the collector’s office while the inquiry continues to determine who authorized the distribution.
