Chhattisgarh seeks approval for 2,305 new mobile towers to expand digital connectivity

The government of Chhattisgarh has asked the Union government to approve the construction of 2,305 mobile towers under the Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN) scheme. The towers are planned for remote and tribal areas to provide high‑speed connectivity for e‑governance, online banking, remote healthcare and digital education.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai met Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia to discuss the proposal, thanking the centre for already sanctioning 577 towers in left‑wing‑extremism‑affected regions. The state has expedited land clearances for Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), issuing 489 clearances and pending 88 more, allowing site surveys to begin. If approved, the combined rollout of more than 2,800 towers would aim to ensure no village in Chhattisgarh remains without digital access.
