Chhattisgarh UCC committee holds meeting in Jagdalpur
A high-level committee tasked with implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Chhattisgarh held a significant meeting and group discussion at the Jagdalpur District Collectorate in the Bastar Division. The session included committee members MK Raut, Mohan Singh Pawar, Jyoti Rani Singh, Secretary Shyam Dhawde, and Commissioner Domon Singh.
Representatives from Jagdalpur and Kondagaon districts, political parties, social and religious organizations, academics, and officials from various commissions and corporations participated in the deliberations. The discussions focused on four primary areas: marriage and divorce, inheritance and succession, maintenance and support, and live-in relationships.
To ensure all suggestions are incorporated into the state-level draft, the proceedings were documented through videography and photography. The government has invited public feedback via a dedicated web portal (ucc.cgstate.gov.in) and email (ucc-chhattisgarh@cg.gov.in). Citizens and organizations may also submit their views in person at the committee office in Raipur until October 30, 2026.
