Chhattisgarh welfare schemes drive rural development and nutrition
Under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ initiative in Chhattisgarh, various government welfare schemes are demonstrating significant impacts on rural livelihoods and community health.
In the nutrition sector, the state is observing the 9th National Nutrition Month. In collaboration with UNICEF, the Department of Women and Child Development is focusing on improving food quality and hygiene at Anganwadi centers. A ‘Suposhan Rath’ has been deployed to raise awareness among families regarding balanced diets and early childhood development.
Economic empowerment is being highlighted through individual success stories. In Janjgir-Champa, a resident utilized the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, receiving a total subsidy of 1.08 lakh rupees to install solar panels, which has eliminated his monthly electricity bills. Similarly, in Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki, a fisherman has leveraged the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana to establish scientific fish farming, generating an annual income of approximately 6 lakh rupees.
Additionally, Minister for Women and Child Development Laxmi Rajwade has been engaging directly with rural women in Kunjanagar to assess the efficacy of schemes like the Mahtari Vandan Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, focusing on how financial assistance supports maternal needs and family stability.
