Chi Pu reinterprets folk tale in music video

The music video ‘Anh Oi O Lai’, released in April 2019, represents a significant milestone in Chi Pu’s musical career. The project helped shift public perception regarding her vocal abilities and introduced a modern approach to Vpop by integrating folk elements and historical imagery.

In a departure from traditional storytelling, the music video reinterprets the classic tale of ‘Tam Cam’ from the perspective of the character Cam. Instead of a simple villain, Cam is portrayed as a tragic figure driven by unrequited love. The narrative follows her wedding to the King, where she faces emotional neglect because his heart belongs to Tam. This perspective provides a psychological depth to her actions, framing her jealousy and cruelty as products of desperation and heartbreak.
