CHI St. Vincent leaves Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arkansas network
CHI St. Vincent has officially left the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arkansas network, effective September 1, 2026, following failed contract negotiations. The health system, part of the Chicago-based CommonSpirit Health, stated that it could not reach a sustainable reimbursement agreement that reflects the actual cost of providing care.
The disruption affects four hospitals—CHI St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock, CHI St. Vincent North in Sherwood, CHI St. Vincent Morrilton, and CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs—along with 80 medical clinics and over 300 healthcare providers. Impacted insurance plans include Arkansas Blue Medicare, BlueAdvantage Administrators of Arkansas, the Federal Employees Program, Health Advantage, Octave Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and Skai Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Medi-Pak Medicare supplement coverage remains unaffected.
CHI St. Vincent noted that the move impacts access to specialized services, including its Advanced Neuroscience program, cardiovascular care, and the only Labor and Delivery hospital in Southwest Arkansas. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arkansas expressed disappointment regarding the decision but stated they remain open to future negotiations should circumstances change.
