Chiang Mai hospital honors 4-year-old organ donor
A four-year-old girl, known as Nong Sunna, has become the 53rd organ donor at Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital after being declared brain dead following an accident.
In an act of generosity, her family consented to the donation, fulfilling the child's dream of becoming a doctor by helping others. Her two kidneys were successfully transplanted to patients on the waiting list, providing them with a new chance at life.
The medical procedure was conducted by the Faculty of Medicine at Chiang Mai University in collaboration with the Organ Donation Center of the Thai Red Cross Society. Hospital officials emphasized that while individuals may register as donors, legal consent from family members remains a critical and indispensable step in the process.
