Chiang Mai province hit by series of three minor earthquakes
A series of three minor earthquakes struck the Hot district of Chiang Mai province, Thailand, in the early hours of October 2, 2026. All three tremors were centered in the Na Kho Ruea subdistrict.
The first earthquake occurred at 1:50 AM with a magnitude of 2.8 at a depth of four kilometers. This was followed by a second tremor at 2:22 AM measuring 1.7 magnitude at a depth of two kilometers. A third earthquake was recorded at 3:24 AM, measuring 1.5 magnitude at a depth of two kilometers.
Residents in Na Kho Ruea and neighboring subdistricts reported feeling the shaking. Local authorities and the Earthquake Observation Division of the Thai Meteorological Department monitored the situation, and no damage or injuries have been reported. Officials planned inspections of the affected areas to assess any potential impact.
