Chiang Rai prepares for tourist season with cultural and green initiatives

Chiang Rai is preparing for the upcoming high tourist season with a focus on cultural landmarks and sustainable hospitality.

Wat Rong Suea Ten, known as the Blue Temple, serves as a major visual landmark in the Rimkok subdistrict. The temple, which features a distinct blue color scheme and golden ornaments, blends traditional Northern Thai architecture with modern design elements. Its name translates to ‘House of the Dancing Tiger,’ reflecting local mythology.

In the hospitality sector, The Heritage Chiang Rai Hotel and Convention has implemented new environmental initiatives to meet the demands of eco-conscious travelers. The hotel has introduced water conservation measures, including automatic flow-control devices in showers that reduce water usage by up to 40 percent. Additionally, the property utilizes a ‘Save Water Save Life’ program to treat and reuse wastewater for maintaining its tropical gardens and cleaning public spaces.
