Chiang Rai wins top provincial prize at 2026 Thailand Rabies Awards

The Chiang Rai City Municipality has been awarded the top provincial prize at the 2026 Thailand Rabies Awards. The recognition, organized by the Department of Local Administration, honors the city’s efforts in local disease prevention and national animal health campaigns.

Following the provincial win, the city team also secured the first runner-up position in the regional round for the 2026 fiscal year. Mayor Wanchai Jongsuthanamanee has led these public health initiatives in collaboration with the Chiang Rai Provincial Livestock Office, focusing on continuous rabies prevention and control programs throughout the metropolitan area.
