Shen Po-yang threatens legal action over AI-generated audio clips

Shen Po-yang, the Democratic Progressive Party candidate for Mayor of Taipei, has announced immediate legal action following the circulation of deepfake audio clips. The recordings, which surfaced late at night, falsely depict Shen discussing the acceptance of kickbacks.

Shen stated that his team is monitoring these developments closely as the election enters a critical phase. He noted that such disinformation tactics, including AI-generated videos and audio, often appear during late-night hours to delay immediate responses. Shen emphasized that while much of this content may originate from overseas, individuals in Taiwan who redistribute these clips may also face criminal liability.
