Chiang Wan-an criticizes Premier Cho over constitutional disputes

Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an has criticized Premier Cho Jung-tai, accusing him of breaking constitutional order and setting a dangerous precedent regarding the refusal to countersign legislative bills.

The dispute follows comments from Legislative Yuan Speaker Yu Shyi-kun, who accused the Executive Yuan of weaponizing the refusal to countersign bills to undermine the legislature. In response, the Executive Yuan stated that it has countersigned 201 bills, with only eight cases—representing 3.8% of passed legislation—remaining uncountersigned. The administration maintains that its decisions are based on careful consideration of implementation levels.

In addition to the constitutional debate, Chiang Wan-an called on Premier Cho to take responsibility and apologize for recent food safety incidents involving various oils, including salad oil, camellia oil, and sesame oil.
