Chiaokee Group faces financial crisis amid Taiwan real estate shifts

The Chiaokee Group is facing a significant financial crisis, with an estimated funding gap of several billion TWD due to a failure to meet corporate bond interest payments. While Chiaokee Wu-Guan continues to fulfill existing contracts, its affiliate, Hermit Crab Management, has confirmed it can no longer provide services. In response, the National Urban Development Center and the Ministry of the Interior have activated a transition mechanism to transfer existing cases to other operators to ensure service continuity.

In broader real estate news, Taiwan's six major cities saw property transaction volumes reach a 19-month high in July, totaling 20,506 units. This growth is attributed to a robust economy driven by AI and technology exports, as well as capital flowing back into the housing market. Meanwhile, the government has announced the opening of 1,500 social housing units across New Taipei, Nantou, Tainan, and Kaohsiung, with special provisions for families with young children.

Additionally, the Shuinan Transit Center in Taichung has officially commenced operations, integrating seven different modes of transport. Regarding energy policy, the government has temporarily excluded residential buildings from new mandatory rooftop solar power installation regulations, citing concerns over long-term maintenance and management complexities.
