Chiapan investigation into video‑recorded child sexual abuse

A video posted on social media showed an eight‑year‑old boy being sexually assaulted by three men in the Los Naranjos community of Sabanilla, Chiapas. The recording, later removed, sparked public outrage and calls from civil organisations and legislators to protect the child and stop further dissemination.

The Chiapas State Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation for aggravated sexual abuse, deploying a multidisciplinary team and a special group to the scene. The State Human Rights Commission (CEDH) also launched a case (CEDH/QUEJA/0688/2026) to monitor the authorities’ actions and safeguard the victim’s rights. Local legislators condemned the crime, while officials pledged that there will be no impunity for those responsible.
