Chiapas Governor Eduardo Ramírez reviews Pakal tactical unit

Chiapas Governor Eduardo Ramírez participated in a tactical demonstration of the Fuerza de Reacción Inmediata Pakal (FRIP), a specialized police corps created by his administration to combat criminal groups. During the exercises held at the Secretaría de Seguridad del Pueblo facilities in Llano San Juan, Ramírez experienced maneuvers in armored vehicles and a simulated pursuit involving a Black Hawk helicopter.

Óscar Aparicio Avendaño, Secretary of Security of the People, detailed the unit's capabilities, noting that the corporation possesses 50 light tactical vehicles and approximately 850 elements. The training process is highly selective; in one recent generation, only 18 out of 120 applicants completed the required physical, survival, and operational training.

Ramírez stated his goal is to establish the Pakales as the premier tactical group in Mexico. This demonstration follows previous scrutiny regarding the unit, including a June 2025 incident where President Claudia Sheinbaum addressed a diplomatic protest from Guatemala following the corps' entry into Guatemalan territory during an armed confrontation.
