Michoacán Governor Bedolla Highlights 24 billion‑peso Infrastructure Investment on Engineer’s Day
On July 1, Mexico marked Engineer’s Day with a series of events emphasizing the role of engineering in public development. In the State of Mexico, the Consejo Coordinador Empresarial met with Tribunal Superior de Justicia President Héctor Macedo to discuss infrastructure, legal certainty and competitiveness, reaffirming a public‑private dialogue.
In Chiapas, Secretary of Infrastructure Anakaren Gómez Zuart led a technical tour of the Las Alfareras bypass, a project costing over 453 million pesos that will serve more than 442,000 residents.
Nationally, SICT Secretary Jesús Esteva Medina stressed that engineering must serve inclusion and human‑rights goals, praising award‑winners Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas Solórzano and Carlos Slim Helú.
Michoacán Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla announced that 95 % of the state's public works are carried out by local engineers, citing a historic 24 billion‑peso investment in infrastructure from 2022‑2025. He added, “No estamos hipotecando el futuro de las michoacanas y michoacanos para hacer las obras que hoy realizamos,” emphasizing transparent financing without new public debt.
These coordinated celebrations underline Mexico’s focus on engineering as a driver of regional growth and social equity.
