Garlasco murder case: new evidence and forensic doubts emerge

The investigation into the 2007 murder of Chiara Poggi in Garlasco has entered a new phase, centered on potential irregularities in the original forensic and investigative processes. The Pavia Prosecutor's Office is examining the accuracy of the 2007 probe, specifically focusing on whether key evidence was properly handled or disclosed.

A significant development is the emergence of a 13-page psychological evaluation of Alberto Stasi, the man convicted of the crime. This document, which describes Stasi as a “manipulator” and “calculating,” was reportedly requested by the Ris of Parma but was neither officially filed nor signed by criminologist Alessandra Bramante, who has denied writing it.

Additionally, investigators are scrutinizing the handling of forensic samples. While the Ris of Parma maintains that the disposal of eluates occurred only after Stasi's final conviction in 2015, the defense has raised questions regarding the preservation of specific biological traces.

Meanwhile, the investigation into Andrea Sempio, a friend of the victim's brother, has also drawn attention. While the probe into Sempio has seen developments, the Poggi family has expressed their continued belief in Stasi's guilt, stating they will accept a new truth only if the justice system provides definitive proof.
