Chiaravalle Centrale councilor contests municipal debt management

Municipal councilor Claudio Foti has raised concerns regarding the management of a debt in Chiaravalle Centrale following an executive injunction from the Court of Catanzaro. The decree, issued in favor of Baffa Costruzioni srl, resulted in a total liability of €109,463.31, including principal, interest, and legal fees.

Foti contends that the administration bypassed necessary oversight by failing to present the debt to the City Council for recognition as an off-balance-sheet liability, as required by Article 194 of the Consolidated Law on Local Authorities. He argues that the lack of council involvement deprived elected representatives of the opportunity to discuss a matter with significant economic consequences for the municipality.
