Chiaravalle Centrale faces depopulation and debt crises

In Chiaravalle Centrale, the civic coalition ‘Radici e Futuro’ has highlighted two primary emergencies facing the municipality: depopulation and public debt.

Demographic data indicates a 10.4 percent decrease in the resident population between 2016 and 2026. The coalition warns that the town is trending toward becoming a small municipality, potentially falling below 5,000 inhabitants by the 2027 local elections.

Financial concerns also persist following a period of insolvency. While a debt liquidation process was managed in 2016 involving 9.1 million euros, the coalition reports that financial difficulties have resurfaced in the 2026-2028 budget, prompting calls for new strategic visions and continuity.
