Chiari: 21-year-old man arrested for allegedly killing mother

A 21-year-old man, identified as Eduart Xhani, has been arrested for the alleged murder of his 39-year-old mother, Meleqe Lusha, in Chiari, Italy. The incident occurred in their family home on via Tagliata during the night between November 2 and November 3.

According to investigators, the victim was stabbed approximately ten times. Following the attack, Xhani fled the residence but later surrendered to the carabinieri in Cremona, where he reportedly confessed to the crime. He is currently held in custody at Canton Mombello under charges of voluntary homicide.

The motive for the killing remains unclear. Local authorities and the mayor of Chiari, Gabriele Zotti, described the event as an inexplicable tragedy, noting that the family was well-integrated into the local community. The victim, an Albanian national, worked at the Brescia Civil Hospital, while the suspect had recently been working in the fast food sector.
