Puebla launches Ecoparque La Malintzi for environmental conservation
The Government of Puebla has launched the first stage of the Ecoparque La Malintzi, an ecotourism project designed to protect the La Malinche National Park and promote sustainable community development. The project involves an investment of approximately 98.9 million pesos and covers an intervention area of 38,281 square meters within a 62.97-hectare site.
Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier stated that the initiative aims to preserve the mountains, prevent forest depletion, and ensure local communities benefit from responsible natural heritage use. The project is being coordinated with local residents, including ejidatarios and communal authorities, to ensure conservation efforts are integrated with economic opportunities.
Infrastructure plans include the reconstruction of approximately six kilometers of the Camino de La Resurrección to improve connectivity. The project is expected to benefit an estimated 1.8 million inhabitants by fostering a circular economy and generating local employment through tourism and improved infrastructure.
