Chiayi City announces winners of Jiaozi pottery craft competition

The Chiayi City Government Bureau of Cultural Affairs has announced the winners of the ‘2026 Chiayi Jiaozi Pottery Craft Competition’. Out of 418 entries, 107 works were selected across various categories, including elementary, junior high, high school, social, and a newly introduced ‘Senior Care’ group.

This year’s competition marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Ye Wang, a master of Jiaozi pottery. To commemorate this milestone, the Chiayi City Museum will host the ‘Legendary Ye Wang—National Treasure Jiaozi Pottery Master 200th Anniversary Exhibition’ from October 24, 2024, to April 25, 2027. Winning works from the competition will be featured in this exhibition.

In an effort to integrate traditional crafts into daily life, the Bureau collaborated with three community long-term care institutions, allowing seniors to transition from learners to creators. Additionally, the ‘Chiayi Jiaozi Pottery Art Festival’ will be held on October 24 and 25, featuring outdoor markets and an awards ceremony.
