Chiayi City God Temple folk culture film wins international awards

The Chiayi City God Temple has received international recognition for its film titled ‘City God Night Patrol,’ which explores the traditional folk customs of Chiayi. The film won selection honors at two international festivals: the Theta Short Film Festival in Italy and the Film and Folklore Festival in Trinidad and Tobago.

To coincide with this achievement, the temple released a new book, ‘Suijing Youmin – Chiayi City God Temple Zhongyuan Festival and Night Patrol of Zhuluo City,’ which documents the history and rituals of the Zhongyuan Festival and the City God Night Patrol. The project was supported by the Cultural Heritage Administration and the Chiayi City Government.

In addition to cultural preservation, the Chiayi City Government is promoting a ‘green procession’ for this year’s festivities. This initiative includes a reusable ‘Peace Cup’ mechanism to reduce single-use waste during religious ceremonies, blending traditional faith with environmental sustainability.
