Chiayi City honors educators through traditional rituals and new support policies

Chiayi City held a series of events to honor educators and celebrate traditional culture during the Teachers' Day period. The city government conducted a traditional Confucian memorial ceremony to commemorate the 2,576th anniversary of Confucius' birth. Mayor Huang Min-hui served as the primary celebrant, participating in ancient rituals to promote the values of respecting teachers and preserving educational heritage.

In a separate ceremony at Chuiyang Elementary School, Mayor Huang honored 208 teachers and four childcare service personnel. During the awards ceremony, the Mayor announced plans to increase the teacher respect gift from 1,500 TWD to 2,000 TWD next year. The city also detailed several educational support measures, including hiring 155 new educational staff members, reducing teaching loads for homeroom and administrative teachers, and increasing the teacher-to-student ratio in both elementary and junior high schools.
