Chiayi City hosts fitness games for 300 seniors
The Chiayi City Government Health Bureau hosted the 'Chiayi City 115 Muscle Power Games' at the East District Gymnasium. The event featured 300 participants aged 65 and older, organized into 30 teams, to demonstrate the health and vitality of the senior generation.
Participants competed in six physical challenges designed to test muscle strength, reaction time, coordination, and stability. These included tasks such as 'Technology Grip Strength,' 'Sharpshooter,' 'Quick Eyes and Hands,' 'Electric Baton,' 'Hand-shaking Speed,' and a 'Steady Walking Race.' The average age of the participants was 71.4 years, with the oldest competitor reaching 90 years of age.
The city government aims to continue creating safe and diverse sporting environments to encourage seniors to develop physical, mental, and social strength. Following the senior division, the games are scheduled to continue with a 'Vitality Group' for participants aged 18 to 64.
