Chiayi City Light Festival attracts 540,000 visitors

The 2026 Chiayi City Light Festival attracted over 540,000 visitors during the four-day Mid-Autumn Festival holiday. This year’s event celebrates the 100th anniversary of Disney’s Winnie the Pooh, featuring ten light show zones and a 9-meter-tall Winnie the Pooh inflatable.

The festival has significantly boosted local tourism. According to the Tourism Administration, Chiayi City recorded an average hotel occupancy rate of 82.07% during the holiday period, the highest in Taiwan. Additionally, the use of YouBike rental services increased by 40.3% compared to August and 31.1% compared to the same period last year, indicating a rise in low-carbon urban travel among tourists.

The event continues at Beixiang Lake Park until October 11, with upcoming performances scheduled from various artists, including magician Wu Kuan-ta and singers Jia Jia, Xiao Jing-hong, and Li Sheng-jie.
