Chiayi County launches school readiness classes for special education students

The Chiayi County Government has launched primary school readiness classes to assist new students with special education needs in transitioning to elementary school life. The program is being conducted simultaneously at three schools: Xingzhong Elementary, Datong Elementary, and Liulin Elementary, with twenty-four new students participating.

To address the challenges posed by the differences between kindergarten and primary school environments—such as new schedules, bell systems, and the removal of snack times—the classes utilize the summer break to familiarize children with campus layouts, daily routines, and learning processes. The curriculum includes social interaction training, self-care skills, and introductory academic experiences through games and practical operations to build student confidence and independence.
