Chiayi Mayor's Cup National Badminton Championship begins

The Chiayi Mayor's Cup National Badminton Championship has officially commenced at the East District National Sports Center. The six-day event has attracted approximately 1,500 participants, including players and spectators from across the country.

Chiayi City Deputy Mayor Lin Rui-yan attended the opening ceremony, emphasizing the city's commitment to promoting badminton as a popular national sport. The municipal government has approved three large-scale badminton events for the second half of the year to provide high-quality competitive platforms and foster public-private cooperation in sports development.

This year marks the first time the Chiayi City Sports Association has organized the Mayor's Cup badminton tournament. Local officials noted that sports have become a core part of the city's identity, and the government plans to continue optimizing local sports facilities and hosting various series of athletic events, such as the Zhuluoshan Cup, to encourage regular physical activity among citizens.
