Chiayi political activity intensifies with candidate registrations and new support groups

Political activities and candidate registrations have intensified in Chiayi, Taiwan, ahead of upcoming local elections.

In Chiayi County, Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) candidate for county magistrate Tsai Yi-yu established the ‘Tsai Yi-yu Young Businessmen Support Association.’ The event was attended by current Chiayi County Magistrate Weng Chang-liang and former Young Businessmen Association President Hou Tsung-yen. Tsai outlined a development blueprint focusing on high-tech industry integration, transportation, education, healthcare, and childcare to attract talent back to the region.

Meanwhile, in Chiayi City, the election commission has completed candidate registration for local offices. Five candidates have registered to run for Mayor, including Wang Mei-hui of the DPP and Chang Chi-kai of the Taiwan People's Party. The registration process also finalized 37 candidates for City Councilor positions across two electoral districts and 157 candidates for village chief positions.
